Church of Arstuyar
Almost every soul in the Igian Realm belongs to the Church of Arstuyar, god of the sun. People honor him every time the sun rises and sets and when it is at its highest. The clergy is headed by the high priest of Igia and is strictly organised, possessing holdings throughout the Realm and enough might to influence kings. Some of the most learned men in the world reside in its many different monastic orders. There is hardly a village in the whole Realm that isn’t headed by a priest of the church, and in many places the courts of Arstuyar count as the highest law.
Nowadays the priests of Arstuyar mostly preach against the Kessani infidels, but at heart the faith is a benevolent one. The people are ushered to repent for their sins, in many cases by way of a donation to the church, before death brings them before Malvak, Arstuyar’s darker aspect.
The people of Ukarta too are followers of Arstuyar, but their priests maintain that Arstuyar and Malvak are two different gods. This heretical view has forced the Igian and Ukartan churches apart, but the two are closer to each other than they are to the Kessani.
